Hiya Calisqo ^_^. It's been a very long time indeed since I last heard from you.
I guess you don't feel up to writing on MT anymore. It's too bad, because it
seems like a lot of people I have met on MT aren't around much anymore.
But if you still browse the galleries, you might be interested in knowing that I
got another painting up the other day. You can find it here, and if you feel up to
commenting I'd certainly love to read it.

We were away for an anime convention last week, so that's why you haven't heard
back from me. It was a lot of fun, and I even wrote up a report on it with
pictures and the whole bit. If you're curious you can see it right
here. Your feedback is of course always appreciated .

I haven't been on MT lately.... Well not just lately, it's been a while now,
maybe like a year or so, but I do return occasionally, once in a while. I have
full time job in architecture for a while now (it's demanding and boring) and on
top of that I still have my UNI to finish. Last year was so crazy that I decided
to cut down on my MT-time.
I know how it is. I don't get to
visit MT that often these days either. Not only am I working all the time, but
I'm also running that blog of mine (mentisworks.org). Not to mention all the
other forums I'm trying to keep up with, which is pretty hard :P.
Last year I wasn't on MT much because I was away traveling, and had very limited
internet access most of the time. But since last fall I've been trying to visit
occasionally and keep up with my notifications at least :P.

To me this piece of work, is rather esoteric, it is quite hard, as an outsider
to fully grasp the intended idea within this piece of work. To me this work is
very personal to only yourself, it leaves little or no clues of what was
intended (or at least to me). And most importantly what it means to the artist
himself.
In term of composition it is rather unusual, as here I found myself searching
for something to focus on. All was laid bare and equal, I guess that was
intended from the 3 you have watched, like you said memento of the threes being
all equal, I guess that part makes sense.
As a fan of expressive paintings, I really like the color blend in between the
brown and the red, the textures from the wood grains added a nice touch to the
whole thing.
Overall an interesting piece as usual
I think I did okay in trying to capture the feelings I had
at the time. That was my primary goal, to express some of the emotions I felt
from watching those anime. Though I probably could have done better, it was a
good effort.
Though you are right in that it is esoteric, both in the context of the words'
common usage, as well as in the context of esotericism. I doubt that anyone
looking at this will automatically understand something of its inner nature. But
I do believe that should a person choose to repeat the experience that I had,
watching those three anime one after the other over the course of just several
days, and then look at this painting, that person would indeed understand a
great deal.
As such, you might call this an experiential work. Meaning that it can only be
understood on the basis of particular experience.

To me it has that ambiguous sense of both masculine and feminine qualities to
it. Not until I read through the description that it became clear to me as to
the reason why the character has such qualities. It feels to me the masculine

loyal to the deceased husband. I personally think this idea is rather
interesting, I am not sure if this was intended.
The character intense expression really shows this tragic dilemma in my opinion,
I wonder if thereâ s another possible way to avoid the use of
generic connotation (tears). Though I must say, although it is somewhat generic
to my liking, the execution of the intended expression is certainly flawless.
The calm and rather flat tones (in my opinion) really help to bring this idea
you were trying to illustrate. I feel that this color tones, have significant
impact in bringing the sorrow out of the character. It is simple and not
overpowering .
Overall interesting piece of work, I would have never thought to use an anime
character as a subject for a painting.

Thank you again. Your comments are certainly some of the
most insightful I have had the privilege to read. You are correct in that I
intended to infuse the work with a great deal of ambiguity. For someone who
knows nothing of the story behind the painting or character it's based on, I
believe the interpretations of what is going on would be incredibly
varied.
One of the things that I focus on in my work is the power of such images. Yet I
try to use this as an opportunity to explore the source of such power. I try to
present that same opportunity to my audience. Even though the concept of a tear
may be generic, as you have observed, the execution was intended to be anything
but. At this time all these efforts are focused on representational imagery, but
I am anticipated a slow shift away from that, yet in keeping with the anime
style. That is my resolution at any rate.
You may be interested to know that this piece has already sold. It was sad to
see her go, but as a result I was asked to paint another piece. It's already up
on MT, though I don't think it's quite as strong as the first. Still, I do like
it. You can see that painting here. Hope you like it too

Like the improvements here.
It's a long way back from the last one.
Here i see improvements in the fold-lines in the clothings, shadowing, and
overall massing of the character.
It starting to show some depth and dimension to the character.
The stance looks convincing . though I'm not too sure with her right leg.
I feel that it is too closely drawn to the head.
I do like the expression on her face as well as her hair. It kinda work well
with the stance. The hair kinda helps explain what she's doing
Nice work overall and good job on taking difficult stance.

From the proportion , shadowing , and this char has more style than those you've
drawn before .
It reminds me of Blue Mary form KOF in a way.
personally like the costume for this char looks good .
Shadowing is really nice too.
Nothing much to comment on ,but perhaps line weight will improve the drawing.
Like the outline , perhas play with different thickness of strokes all.

As for me, I have actually spent some time developing on my 10th Official Wallpaper as a matter of fact,
this one entitled Natsumi. It's a fairly
simple wallpaper, the third "unprofessional" design of its kind [its
purpose, just for intrigue], and all I did was work on my special touching /
brushing techniques on the scan to make the surrounding background look just as
bright and purely delightful as ever. Of course, the wallpaper does not look
close to its original form. **Snickers** A slice of the presence of beauty if I may shortly recall.
Well, I hope I do have the chance to see you later on this week, or this month

I tried to come up with a picture not too controversial in tastes towards the
general indivduals through my own opinion, yet somehow has enough flexibility to
give off that little intriguing look of hers that might just be worth jotting
down some noteables about her beauty around here.
And then I double-searched on the term "Daybreak." As expected, it did
originate from Ayu herself, as I was reassured that even though the source could
have hidden itself away from ever being found on my old hard drive I have placed
into another PC over here, technically I also could recall from my vast general
J-Pop knowledge that I did hear her sing that song before. Just to let you know
- but it always seems to have bothered me: was that the main reason why that
person chose that kind of ... well... err... I won't mention anymore. I think
you got a pretty good idea what I was about to say next. lol
